A trusty companion for a self‑love and healing practice, from illustrator and comics creator Hyesu Lee, this journal is a knowing smile and a shared sigh to keep by your side. Self-Love Club Journal, like its companion book Self-Love Club, takes a joyous approach to self-acceptance and is full of reminders that no matter where you are in your journey, you are enough, and you are loved.Welcome to the club!

Taking art from Hyesu’s Self-Love Club book and new art she delivered, I created a book that not only centers Hyesu’s art but also serves as a functional, interactive, fun-filled journal. This included using pieces of Hyesu’s art to create original cover, endsheet, front matter, and sticker sheet designs. I also tested the lined pages for line height and legibility of different pens and pencils on the art.

In order to preserve the brightness and integrity of Hyesu’s art, I chose to swap one of the traditional CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) ink channels with a flourescent Pantone ink. This allowed all the illustrations to shine brighter without the time-consuming process of isolating certain parts of the art for a scecial spot ink channel.
